The Original Z used to be called Zkittles, but suits over at Mars didn’t like their candy being associated with something that didn’t cause diabetes, tooth decay, heart disease, and cancer, so the cannabis industry renamed it the Original Z. That’s a testament to how well mannered and chill our industry is. We accidentally offended someone, so we apologize and corrected the behavior.

Do you think the public, billion dollar company would extend that same courtesy to society? My money is on no. In fact, they’re being asked to stop using petroleum based dyes in their products and they are fighting that. If MCA were still alive, the Beastie Boys need to redo their song to “You gotta fight, for your right, to POISON!”

Speaking of food dyes – they really piss me. I’m cool with using plants to make colors – like blueberry extract to make blue. However, using petroleum based products with the ONLY REASON being vanity and cost is so bad. And Yes, I’ve read the psychology of colors and food and how something cherry ‘tastes better’ if it’s cherry red instead of brown or white. But come on. Look at the stats for colorectal cancer. If someone won’t eat a cherry skittle because it isn’t red, they’re a dipshit. We shouldn’t be eating that crap anyways.

Well, The Original Z is spicy indica dominant strain because it got me all riled up as seen above. This actually brings me to a great point. Recent research shows that the traditionally accepted effects of indicas (calm) and sativas (energetic) isn’t that accurate. I agree. I think it comes down to the terpenes.

For instance, this Z is genetically indica, but it smells like candy. Candy strains almost always have lots of sativa. Most fruity strains are also sativa, especially anything lemon. The original z is unique and cool because Grape Ape and Grapefruit are both fruity strains. The Grapefruit shines in the effects because that’s the only place I can think would have got me ranting about food dyes. How else would I get worked up about food dyes at lunchtime on a Wednesday? That’s strange behavior.

I feel really good right now. I’m very motivated and having a fun time writing this. I think I’ll call the Original Z a “Daytime Indica.”

However, they are 100% different, so the Farm Bill counts this as hemp.
