In the old days, everyone said “Sativa is for daytime and Indica is for night time.” While that is a safe-ish generalization, we now know that it isn’t that binary, especially with all the hybridization. We now know that the terpenes control more of the daytime vs nighttime properties. The reason the industry simplification of the daytime sativa and nighttime indica worked well enough is because sativas more often have ‘daytime terpene profiles’ and indicas have ‘nighttime terpene profiles’. These are generalizations, not rules. Remember that there are infinite combinations of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that cause the effects we feel, so none of this is exact.
